Bidspirit auction | 1980s Eric Bellmann Etching Across
1980s Eric Bellmann Etching Across the Street - A limited edition architectural etching on paper by Eric Bellmann titled Across the Street. The composition features a whimsical study of three Victorian-style houses, including a central structure with a bell tower and clock, flanked by two taller residential buildings. The work is characterized by dense, intricate textures and patterns across the facades and sky. The print is hand-signed in graphite in the lower right margin as Eric Bellmann. The title Across the Street is inscribed in graphite in the lower left margin, and the edition number 11/25 is written in the center. The print is housed behind glass in a gold-toned metal frame with a wide cream-colored mat. The reverse shows a corrugated cardboard backing and a wire hanging system. Plate mark measures approximately 4 by 4 inches. Framed dimensions are approximately 8.25 by 8.25 inches. The artwork and framing show several condition issues. Significant foxing and brown spotting are visible across the surface of the cream mat board (photos 1 and 2). There is a large area of residue, silvering, or internal moisture damage on the lower right corner of the glass (photos 6 and 7). The wooden ruler in the images shows some wear and surface losses, though it is present for scale only (photos 6 and 7). The metal frame and backing appear structurally sound.
