1983 Sorel Cohen Galerie Optica and P.S. 1 Exhibition Poster - A 1983 exhibition poster for the artist Sorel Cohen, produced to promote the photography exhibition titled An Extended and Continuous Metaphor. The poster features two monochromatic images from the artist's series: the left panel shows a person in profile wearing a white sweatshirt and jeans holding a length of cloth, while the right panel depicts an ethereal, blurred figure within a bordered frame. The artist's name, Sorel Cohen, is printed in large cyan-blue block lettering across the center. Below this, white text reads New Photographs and lists two exhibition venues and dates: Galerie Optica at 1029 cote du Beaver Hall in Montreal, Quebec, from February 15 to March 5, 1983, and P.S. 1 (Project Studios One) in New York from April 10 to June 5, 1983. A small credit line at the bottom center states, Cette exposition est presentee grace a l aide du Conseil des Arts du Canada, followed by design by Austin Metze. The poster is printed on a medium-weight paper with a semi-gloss finish. Based on the measurements against the yardstick, the poster is approximately 23 1/2 inches high and 17 1/2 inches wide. 23 1/2 inches by 17 1/2 inches. The poster exhibits significant signs of handling and storage wear. There are numerous surface creases, dimples, and indentations visible across the black background and within the cyan lettering (photo 4, photo 5). Edge wear is present, including small nicks and chipping along the left vertical margin (photo 3). The corners show curling and minor bending (photo 6, photo 7). There is a faint ring-shaped mark or discoloration on the wooden surface beneath the poster, though the paper itself appears free of major liquid staining. The reverse side shows light handling smudges and evidence of previous rolling (photo 8).
