1901 (1923 Printing) Carroll, Lewis. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Harper & Brothers. - A hardcover edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, featuring illustrations by Peter Newell. This volume is bound in dark cloth with a pictorial color label on the front cover and silver-stamped lettering on the spine. The title page credits Lewis Carroll as author, E. S. Martin for the introduction, and Peter Newell as illustrator. The publisher is identified as Harper & Brothers, New York and London. The copyright page states Copyright, 1901, by Harper & Brothers, and identifies the book as printed in the United States of America. A publisher's code reading L-X is present at the bottom of the copyright page, indicating a printing date of November 1923. The Joe Boop bookplate is securely adhered to the front flyleaf (photo 4). One plate shows a small brown spot in the upper margin (photo 10).
