1929 Thunderbolt Original Movie Window Card Paramount Pictures George Bancroft Fay Wray - This is an original window card promoting the 1929 Paramount Pictures sound film Thunderbolt. The piece features a prominent diagonal lightning bolt graphic containing the title in pink stylized lettering against a yellow ground. The lithographic design includes a large portrait of lead actor George Bancroft wearing a hat, and a smaller romantic scene featuring Fay Wray and Richard Arlen. The background is a solid deep blue. The top header reads GEORGE BANCROFT IN in yellow bubble letters. Below the lightning bolt, the bottom left identifies the supporting cast with the text WITH FAY WRAY and RICHARD ARLEN. At the bottom right corner, a circular printed logo contains the words Paramount Pictures above the company name Paramount Famous Lasky Corp. Fine print at the bottom center states THIS POSTER LEASED FROM PARAMOUNT FA MOUS LASKY CORP. At the far bottom left edge, the number 2808 is printed followed by the phrase COUNTRY OF ORIGIN U.S.A. The reverse of the card is unprinted and shows a uniform brown tone consistent with aged paper stock. The vertical height is approximately 22 inches, as indicated by the wooden ruler positioned alongside the right edge (photo 11). The horizontal width is approximately 14 1/4 inches, as measured across the lower portion of the card (photo 12). The item is in fair to good vintage condition. Significant paper loss and irregular tearing are visible along the bottom edge, specifically a large jagged loss under the names Fay Wray and Richard Arlen (photos 1, 4, 6, and 10). There is a significant area of dark brown water staining or foxing across the upper white margin (photos 1, 2, and 3). Small tears, nicks, and edge wear are present along the left and right margins, including several small nicks near the top right (photo 3) and a chip at the bottom left corner (photo 7). A vertical soft crease or fold is visible running through the right side of the imagery (photo 4). The paper shows overall toning and browning consistent with age, particularly evident on the reverse (photo 9).
