1930s-1940s Collection of Mexican Movie Lobby Cards for Tarzan Films starring Johnny Weissmuller - A collection of vintage Mexican movie lobby cards featuring various films from the Tarzan franchise starring Johnny Weissmuller. The assortment includes cards for the following titles: La Fuga de Tarzan (Tarzan Escapes), Tarzan y las Amazonas (Tarzan and the Amazons), El Tesoro de Tarzan (Tarzan's Secret Treasure), Tarzan y la Mujer Leopardo (Tarzan and the Leopard Woman), and Tarzan y la Diosa Verde (Tarzan and the Green Goddess). Each card is constructed from heavy paper stock and features a combination of colorful graphic illustrations and black-and-white photographic film stills. Several cards bear the printed credit Distribuidora Sotomayor, S. A. - Estudios Churubusco - Mexico, D. F. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or Sol Lesser production marks. The cards are printed in Spanish and list cast members including Maureen O'Sullivan, Brenda Joyce, and Johnny Sheffield. The reverse of one card features blue stamped characters D865 and A65, a handwritten D61 in pencil, and a small yellow adhesive label reading Tarzan + Green Goddess (photo 6). Another card reverse bears the handwritten number 1333 and a small white adhesive label reading TARZAN ESCAPES (photo 8). A third card reverse features a circled numeral 1 and a label reading TARZAN'S SECRET TREASURE (photo 12). Width: 16.5 inches Height: 12.5 inches. The collection is in fair to good vintage condition. Visible defects include corner bumping and edge wear throughout the set (photo 1). There is notable yellowing and toning consistent with age, particularly evident on the reverse sides (photo 3). Minor creasing is visible at the corners and along the margins of several cards (photo 13). One card shows a small surface loss or abrasion on the lower left corner (photo 11). The items are stored in individual clear plastic sleeves.
