1975 Tadeusz Kosciuszko Metal Relief Plaque After Joseph Grassi for Cepelia - A 1975 metal relief plaque depicting the Polish and American Revolutionary War hero Tadeusz Kosciuszko, mounted on a rectangular wooden backing. The figure is rendered in profile wearing military attire with visible orders and a high cravat, based on a 1794 portrait by Joseph Grassi. The relief is executed in a copper-toned metal with a dark, mottled patina. A raised cursive inscription reading Tadeusz Kosciuszko is present at the base of the metal relief. In the lower left corner of the metal relief, there is an incised artist signature that is not legible as a name. The reverse of the wooden mount bears two adhesive labels. A white rectangular label is printed with TADEUSZ KOSCIUSZKO WG. PORTRETU J. GRASSIEGO Z 1794 ROKU. A larger green and yellow label features a stylized animal logo within a letter C above the word Cepelia. This label also bears the printed header SPOLDZIELCZE ZRZESZENIE WYTWORCOW PRZEMYSLU LUD. I ARTYST. W WARSZAWIE. Handwritten ink notations on this label include plakieta Kosciuszko, W-20-159-74, szt 1, wrzesien 1975, and 228. A circular purple ink stamp is present on the label but the characters are not clearly legible. A small metal D-ring hanger is attached to the top center of the reverse. 13 1/8 inches x 9 1/8 inches. The metal relief plaque exhibits a dark, mottled patina with scattered areas of surface oxidation and minor surface wear (photo 1). The wooden mount shows several shallow scratches and scuffs across the reverse side (photo 2). Both labels on the reverse show age-related yellowing and light edge wear but remain fully adhered and legible (photos 3 and 4). No major dents or structural losses are observed.
