Harley-Davidson Chrome Motorcycle Sissy Bar Upright with Integrated Side Plates - A chrome-plated steel motorcycle sissy bar assembly designed for rear fender mounting. The unit features a flat-bar upright construction with three horizontal cross-members. Mounted between the top and middle cross-members is a die-cast decorative medallion featuring an eagle in relief. The medallion bears several literal transcriptions in enamel banners: a top banner reads HARLEY-DAVIDSON, small central text reads MADE IN above a large USA shield, a left-hand banner reads EST, and a right-hand banner reads 1903. The lower ends of the upright are bolted to two integrated side plates. Each side plate features a forward-facing open notch and two mounting holes for attachment to motorcycle fender struts. Two mounting holes are also present on the middle cross-member for the attachment of a passenger backrest pad. This item is in used condition with significant visible defects. Widespread surface rust and pitting are present across the chrome finish of the uprights and both side plates (photos 1, 2, and 4). The decorative medallion shows oxidation, loss of the original gold-tone plating, and fading to the red enamel paint in the banners (photo 3). The hardware connecting the upright to the side plates is heavily corroded (photo 2 and 4). Additional rust and oxidation are visible on the reverse side of the medallion and the lower mounting brackets (photo 5).
