1883 US Morgan Silver Dollar - A United States 1883 Morgan silver dollar, produced at the Philadelphia Mint as indicated by the absence of a mint mark. The coin features the obverse design by George T. Morgan, showing a left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with the word LIBERTY inscribed on the headband, surrounded by thirteen stars and the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM with the date 1883 at the base. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, enclosed by a laurel wreath and the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and the motto In God we trust in Gothic script. The coin is composed of 0.900 fine silver. Weight: 0.853 ozt. This specimen is in circulated condition, showing moderate wear on the high points of the design, particularly on the hair above Liberty's ear (Photo 1) and the eagle's breast feathers (Photo 2). Numerous surface scratches, contact marks, and bag marks are visible in the fields and on the portrait (Photo 1). Dark toning and natural patina are present in the recessed areas of the legends and along the reeded rim (Photos 1 and 2).
