Indian Cast Metal Elephant Figurine with Howdah - An Indian cast metal elephant figurine depicted in a walking pose with a raised trunk and open mouth. The elephant is adorned with a textured caparison featuring a central floral motif and fringed borders. A square howdah with an open circular center is mounted on the back, serving as a small vessel or holder. The piece features a weathered finish with golden-toned highlights and a dark, oxidized patina. On the underside of the belly, there are cast characters that read MADE IN on the top line and INDIA on the bottom line. Length: 3 1/2 inches from the tip of the trunk to the hindquarters Height: 2 3/4 inches to the tip of the raised trunk Height: 2 inches to the top of the howdah. The figurine shows significant surface oxidation and wear to the original golden-toned finish throughout (photo 1, 3, 6). The granular and rough texture is an intentional feature of the casting process. There are no visible chips, cracks, or structural repairs.
