Heart-Shaped Cameo Pendant with Classical Profile - A heart-shaped pendant featuring a carved cream-colored relief cameo of a female profile. The figure is depicted in profile facing right, with wheat stalks woven into her hair, a motif typically identifying the goddess Ceres. The cameo is mounted on a heart-shaped plaque of polished black material. The pendant is suspended by a silver-toned wire bail assembly that includes a central twisted section attached to two small metal loops on the shoulders of the heart, terminating in a circular jump ring. There are no hallmarks, maker's marks, or signatures visible on any part of the pendant or metalwork. The heart-shaped plaque measures 1 inch in width at the widest point and 1 inch in height. The total length of the piece including the bail assembly is 1.5 inches. The reverse of the black plaque displays numerous fine surface scratches across the entire face (photo 2). The front side shows minor surface wear and some accumulated dust in the deeper recesses of the cameo carving (photo 1). The wire metalwork exhibits minor irregularities in its shape (photo 1).
