A Pair of US Commemorative Medals - This lot consists of two silver-toned base metal commemorative medals, each presented in a clear plastic protective capsule. The first medal features a colorized obverse depicting the Statue of Liberty with the inscription LIBERTY. Its reverse shows a shield containing an eagle and stars against a sunburst background, with banners inscribed HISTORY OF AMERICA and FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY. A small stylized letter m in a square border is impressed on the reverse. The second medal features a lenticular obverse that alternates between a portrait of John F. Kennedy and the White House, with a gold-toned border inscribed JOHN F. KENNEDY 35th US PRESIDENT. The reverse depicts the Seal of the President of the United States surrounded by the legend THE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. A small stylized logo is impressed on the reverse at the base of the design. Both items exhibit proof-like finishes. Diameter: 1.5 inches (38 mm). Both medals are in uncirculated condition with no visible surface wear, scratches, or metal fatigue. The protective plastic capsules exhibit light surface scuffing and minor scratches visible under direct light (photos 1 and 5).
