Sterling Silver and Multi-Gemstone Carved Mother-of-Pearl Face Pendant - A sterling silver pendant featuring a large central cabochon of carved mother-of-pearl depicting a serene face. The face is set within an ornate frame of Balinese-style silver scrollwork. The top of the setting is decorated with two prong-set oval-cut light green stones flanking a single pear-cut dark red stone. Two small round-cut purple stones are set into the scrolls at either side of the face. The pendant is finished with a large, vertically-ribbed fixed bail. The reverse of the pendant features an incised mark consisting of the characters AIL and a stamped numerical mark reading 925. Length: 1.75 inches Width: 1.25 inches Weight: 0.446 ozt. The pendant is in good overall condition. The sterling silver mounting shows minor surface scratches and areas of natural oxidation, primarily on the flat reverse surface and within the recessed areas of the scrollwork (photo 5). The carved mother-of-pearl face and all faceted gemstone accents appear secure and free of visible chips or cracks (photo 1).
