A Group of US 90% Silver Washington Quarters - A group of US Washington Quarters struck in 90% silver (0.900 fineness). The collection includes specimens dated 1942, 1957, 1961, and 1964. Each coin features the standard Washington Quarter obverse and heraldic eagle reverse design types. A D mint mark for the Denver Mint is visible on the 1961 specimen, while the others lack mint marks, indicating production at the Philadelphia Mint. Several coins are housed in circular clear plastic protective capsules. A loose 1964 specimen bears a hand-applied inscription in black ink on the reverse field reading F45-06. Quarters issued through 1964 represent the final years of the standard circulating 90% silver composition for this series. The coins are in circulated condition, exhibiting varying degrees of surface wear, contact marks, and toning consistent with their age and use (photo 1 and 2). The loose 1964 specimen shows a permanent black marker inscription on the reverse (photo 2). The 1942 specimen displays more significant circulation wear to the high points of the design compared to the later 1960s issues (photo 1).
