US 2000 Franklin Mint George Walker Bush Decision 2000 Medal, Sterling Silver - A US commemorative sterling silver medal from the Eyewitness series, minted by The Franklin Mint to record the conclusion of the 2000 Presidential election. The medal is struck with a proof-like finish and is housed in its original clear acrylic display stand with a blue cardstock insert. The obverse features a portrait of George Walker Bush. The blue insert below the medal is inscribed with silver-toned text reading THE DECISION 2000, EYEWITNESS, COMMEMORATIVE, and MEDAL. The reverse features a US Supreme Court building design with the rim inscription THE SUPREME COURT and DECEMBER 12, 2000. A central inscription on the reverse reads Court's ruling ends election contest, George Walker Bush becomes 43rd U.S. President-elect. The reverse of the cardstock insert bears printed silver text reading STERLING SILVER, LIMITED EDITION, and MINTED BY THE FRANKLIN MINT. The silver medal displays light peripheral toning on the reverse (photo 2) and minor scattered hairlines on the proof-like surfaces. The acrylic display case exhibits significant surface scuffing and fine scratches throughout the front and sides (photo 1). There is visible wear and partial loss to the silver-toned printed lettering on the front of the blue insert (photo 1).
