A Collection of US 1942 Philadelphia Mint Coins in A Year to Remember Display Card - A collection of US coins minted in 1942, consisting of five circulating denominations struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The set includes a 90 percent silver Walking Liberty half dollar, a 90 percent silver Washington quarter, a 90 percent silver Mercury dime, a cupro-nickel Jefferson nickel, and a bronze Lincoln wheat cent. The nickel is the early-year variety lacking the large P mint mark above Monticello. The coins are housed in a thematic cardboard and plastic display card featuring a printed background of a calendar and newspaper clippings, with the title A Year to Remember... 1942 printed in script and a gold-tone metal plaque engraved with 1942. The reverse of the card is plain white and features a gold-toned circular adhesive label in the upper left corner printed with 048 and Quality Checked (photo 3). The silver half dollar, quarter, and dime show circulated wear consistent with Fine to Very Fine grades, with natural light toning observed on the half dollar (photo 2). The Jefferson nickel exhibits dark environmental spotting and toning on the obverse and reverse (photos 4, 3). The Lincoln cent displays a consistent brown patina with minor surface residue (photo 4). The display card shows minor shelf wear and edge rubbing (photo 1).
