A.R.E. 1999 The Franklin Mint The Great Treasures of Ancient Egypt Silver 5 Pound Proof Set - A five-coin silver proof set titled The Great Treasures of Ancient Egypt Official Silver Coin Collection, issued by the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1999 and manufactured by The Franklin Mint. The set comprises five 5 Pound coins struck in silver with a proof finish featuring frosted relief designs against mirrored fields. The obverses depict various iconographic motifs including the funerary mask of Tutankhamun, a bust of Nefertiti, a profile portrait of a queen, the seated statues of Ramses II at Abu Simbel, and a winged falcon of Horus. All coins share a common reverse design featuring a central stylized floral motif. Reverse inscriptions include 1999 and the Arabic numerals ١٩٩٩, 5 POUNDS and ٥ جنيهات, and the country name in Arabic Jumhuriyat Misr al-Arabiyah above the abbreviation A.R.E. Each coin is housed in an individual clear plastic capsule. The collection is presented in a blue textured presentation case featuring a gold-stamped title and pyramid logo on the exterior lid. The interior of the lid is lined with cream-colored silk bearing a gold script mark reading The Franklin Mint. The base is lined with black velvet with recessed coin inserts. This set was issued to commemorate the historical legacy of ancient Egyptian civilization. Presentation case width: 8.75 inches Presentation case depth: 6 inches Coin diameter: 37 mm. The coins are in uncirculated, proof condition with no visible signs of toning, spotting, or handling (photos 2, 3). The protective plastic capsules remain clear with no significant scratching. The presentation case is in excellent condition; the gold-stamped lettering on the exterior is crisp and complete (photo 5). The interior silk and velvet linings are clean and free of staining or fraying (photo 1).
