Carved Meerschaum Smoking Pipe with Mottled Green Stem and Fitted Case - A hand-carved meerschaum tobacco smoking pipe accompanied by its original fitted presentation case. The bowl is sculpted with a crown-like scalloped rim above a band of circular relief carvings, while stylized acanthus leaf motifs adorn the base. The interior of the bowl appears unsmoked and retains its natural cream color. The stem is fashioned from a translucent, mottled green and honey-colored synthetic material, featuring a curved profile and decorative turned rings at the junction with the shank. A series of faint, impressed characters are present on the side of the stem, however, they are significantly worn and are not legible as a specific name or maker. The fitted case features a black textured exterior and a light-colored textile lining. The pipe measures approximately 5.5 inches in length from the tip of the stem to the edge of the bowl. The pipe is in excellent, unsmoked condition with one small dark surface scuff on the smooth portion of the bowl (photo 6). The bowl interior shows no signs of carbonization or use (photo 2). The presentation case exhibits significant age-related wear, including staining and material loss to the interior lining (photo 5) and fraying at the hinge (photo 7). The exterior latch and hinges are functional.
