Sterling Silver French Pepper Mill - A sterling silver French pepper mill of baluster form featuring a waisted central section and a stepped base. The top is surmounted by a circular knurled adjusting nut. The piece is constructed with a solid sterling silver exterior and contains an internal wooden block housing a metal grinding mechanism. An impressed mark on the base rim reads STERLING. The metal crossbar of the interior grinding mechanism is impressed with the words MADE IN FRANCE. Height: 3.75 inches Weight: Under 1 lb. The silver exterior shows moderate to heavy tarnish throughout (photo 1). There are scattered small pin-head sized dents and surface abrasions consistent with age and domestic use (photo 1). The interior metal grinding mechanism shows signs of surface corrosion and residue from previous use (photo 4). The wooden interior block shows wear and darkening consistent with age (photo 4).
