US 1891-O Morgan Silver Dollar - A US Morgan silver dollar struck at the New Orleans mint. The obverse features a profile of Liberty facing left, wearing a Phrygian cap, with the date 1891 at the base and the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM along the upper edge. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, partially enclosed by a laurel wreath. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR. A readable mint mark consisting of an impressed letter O is located on the reverse, positioned above the letters DO in DOLLAR. Weight: 0.860 ozt. The coin is in circulated condition with visible surface wear. The obverse displays flattening on the high points of Liberty's hair, particularly above the ear and forehead, with numerous contact marks and fine scratches throughout the fields (photo 1). The reverse shows significant wear on the eagle's breast feathers and wing tips, with multiple contact marks and small indentations in the fields (photo 2). The coin lacks original mint luster and exhibits a dull gray patina from handling.
