1880 US Morgan Silver Dollar - A 1880 US silver dollar of the Morgan type, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse is inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM along the top border, LIBERTY on the headband, and 1880 at the base. The reverse is inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DOLLAR, with the motto In God we trust in Gothic script. The piece is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper and features a reeded edge. Weight: 0.855 ozt. The coin exhibits wear on the high points of the design, notably Liberty's hair and the eagle's breast feathers. Numerous contact marks and small scratches are visible across the fields and on Liberty's cheek (photo 1). Significant dark peripheral toning is present around the rims on both the obverse and reverse (photos 1 and 2).
