A Pair of Mexican Modernist Vermeil Sterling Silver Ribbed Shell-Form Earrings - A pair of Mexican modernist clip-on earrings featuring a spiral, ribbed shell-like form. The pieces are constructed from sterling silver with a gold wash finish. The reverse of each earring is impressed with the text 925 MEXICO in a rectangular field. Above this text is a registration mark reading TV-125 within a rectangular border. The reverse also bears a small circular hallmark and a faint eagle assay mark. Each earring is finished with a hinged clip-on mechanism. Weight: 0.579 ozt Length: Approximately 1 inch. The earrings are in fair condition. There is significant wear to the gold wash finish, with heavy loss visible on the raised ribs of the front and across the entire reverse surface (photos 4, 5, 6). Heavy dark tarnish and oxidation are present throughout the recessed grooves and on the clip mechanisms (photos 3, 4). The metal surfaces show minor surface scratches and small areas of pitting throughout (photos 1, 2).
