US 1921-S Morgan Silver Dollar - A US 1921-S Morgan silver dollar composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. The coin is struck with the Morgan obverse and reverse designs. An S mint mark is visible on the reverse, centered above the letters DO in DOLLAR. The piece is housed in a cardboard 2x2 flip. The flip bears several handwritten notations: the upper left corner features a green ink notation reading 1 1921 S; the upper right corner has a white adhesive label with a red X and the number 41 in black ink; the lower left corner shows a black marker strike-through above the grade EF 40 written in black ink; the lower right corner bears the letters ES in pencil. This 1921-S issue represents the final year of the Morgan dollar series and the only year this design type was produced at the San Francisco mint. The coin is in circulated condition. Wear is visible on the high points of the hair above the ear and the cotton blossoms on the obverse (photo 2). The reverse exhibits wear on the eagle breast feathers and wing tips (photo 3). Light golden-brown toning is present around the peripheries of both sides (photos 2 and 3). Original mint luster remains in the protected areas of the fields. The cardboard holder shows minor surface wear and aging.
