A Pair of Mexican Sterling Silver Square Scrollwork Cufflinks - A pair of Mexican sterling silver square cufflinks featuring a relief-cast scrolling foliate design. Each face contains a central square cartouche housing a stylized relief symbol. The cufflinks are constructed with toggle backs. The reverse of each toggle is impressed with marks in a lozenge-shaped field reading GUARANTEED 925 across the top, R.M.S. flanked by two stars in the center, and STERLING MEX at the bottom. Weight: 0.915 ozt (approximately 28.46 grams) Dimensions: Faces measure approximately 1 inch square. The cufflinks exhibit significant oxidation and a heavy dark patina throughout the recessed designs and flat surfaces (photo 4). General surface wear and minor scuffing are present consistent with age and use (photo 5). The post of one cufflink is slightly misaligned compared to the other (photo 3). The toggles are in functional condition.
