Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Victorian 10K
A Pair of Victorian 10K Gold and Colorless Faceted Stone Earrings - A pair of Victorian lever-back earrings, commonly referred to as dormeuse earrings, crafted in 10 karat yellow gold. The design features a decorative fan-shaped top element above a horizontal rectangular bar decorated with a repeating textured chevron pattern. Suspended from each bar is a single, large colorless faceted stone held in a multi-prong setting with a decorative gallery. The stones exhibit high crowns and chunky facets consistent with an antique cushion or old mine cut style. While small indentations are visible on the exterior of the ear wires, no characters, symbols, or hallmarks are legible in the provided images (photo 3). The gold shows a warm tone with rose-colored highlights in certain lighting. Weight: 1.30 dwt Total length: approximately 1 inch. The earrings exhibit visible oxidation and tarnish within the recessed areas of the decorative gold tops and stone settings (photos 1, 2, and 4). Minor surface scratches and evidence of wear are present, consistent with age and use. One stone displays a visible internal inclusion or small fracture located near the edge of the stone (photo 4). The lever-back mechanisms appear to be in functional condition.
