US 1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar - A US Morgan silver dollar dated 1881 and struck in 90% silver. The obverse features the Liberty head design type with the legend E PLURIBUS UNUM, thirteen stars, and the date 1881. The reverse features the heraldic eagle design type with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, In God we trust, and the denomination ONE DOLLAR. A relief S mint mark is struck on the reverse below the wreath (photo 2), identifying production at the San Francisco Mint. The coin features a reeded edge. Weight: 0.852 ozt. The coin exhibits signs of circulation with wear on the high points of the hair and the eagle's breast. Numerous contact marks and small scuffs are visible on the obverse fields and Liberty's cheek (photo 1). Moderate peripheral toning in amber and light blue hues is present along the rims of both the obverse and reverse (photos 1 and 2).
