MMA 1976 Egyptian Revival Enamel and Turquoise-Color Bead Ankh Necklace - An Egyptian Revival necklace featuring a central ankh pendant and a multi-material beaded strand. The ankh pendant is constructed from gold-toned base metal with a recessed front face featuring red and blue enamel inlays. A central red teardrop-shaped enamel cell is surrounded by blue enamel borders that extend across the crossbar and down the stem. The pendant is suspended from a simple bail onto the beaded necklace. The necklace is composed of cylindrical turquoise-color stone beads, separated by spherical silver-toned spacer beads, and interspersed with thin, elongated copper-toned and silver-toned metal tube beads. The necklace is finished with a metal barrel screw clasp. The reverse of the pendant bears a stamped vertical mark on the lower stem reading © MMA-1976. Folded length: 7.75 inches Pendant length: 1 inch. The necklace shows signs of surface wear and significant oxidation consistent with age. There is dark patina and surface tarnish visible on the metal components, most notably on the reverse of the pendant (photo 3), the bail (photo 1), and the metal tube beads along the strand (photo 4). The enamel inlays on the pendant appear to be complete and free of significant chips or losses (photo 1). The cylindrical stone beads exhibit natural variations in color and surface texture (photo 2). The barrel clasp remains functional.
