Two pieces of vintage costume jewelry comprising a hammered metal foliate sash brooch and a rhinestone set faux tortoiseshell hair pin - A lot consisting of two items of costume jewelry. The first item is a large horizontal sash brooch of trilobed form, constructed from gold toned base metal. The design features a hammered honeycomb texture background with a raised, openwork border of foliate vines and leaves. A single large oval faceted amethyst colored glass stone is centered in a bezel setting. The reverse is equipped with a simple pin stem and an open C-clasp. No maker marks or hallmarks are visible on the front or back of the piece (photo 4). The second item is a two prong hair pin featuring dark amber and brown mottled faux tortoiseshell tines. The head is made of silver toned metal and is pavé set with eighteen small round faceted clear glass rhinestones. No markings or signatures are present on this item. Width of brooch: 2.25 inches Length of hair pin: 2.5 inches. The brooch metal finish shows minor surface tarnish and light age related wear, particularly on the reverse (photo 4). The central glass stone exhibits light surface scratches and a small chip visible on a facet edge near the lower portion of the stone (photo 3). The hair pin has several darkened and yellowed rhinestones, which is typical for age related degradation of the foil backing (photo 1). The faux tortoiseshell tines show light surface scuffing from use (photo 2).
