1951 G Federal Republic of Germany Silver 5 Deutsche Mark Coin - This silver coin from the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) has a denomination of 5 Deutsche Mark. The obverse features the German Federal Eagle (Bundesadler) facing left with wings spread, framed by a beaded rim. The reverse displays a large central numeral 5, above which is the inscription DEUTSCHE MARK in capital letters. The outer border is inscribed with the issuing authority BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND. At the bottom, the date 1951 is flanked by two four-pointed stars. A small capital letter G is positioned near the date, identifying the Karlsruhe mint. The coin is composed of .625 fineness silver. Weight: 11.2g. The coin is in circulated condition. Both the obverse and reverse exhibit numerous fine surface scratches and contact marks consistent with handling (photos 1 and 2). There is visible wear on the high points of the eagle feathers and the central numeral 5. The surfaces show a light, even grey patina. The coin is housed in a clear plastic protective flip.
