Sterling Silver Rectangular Lace-Under-Glass Brooch - A rectangular brooch featuring a section of white hand-worked lace encapsulated between two panes of glass. The lace is designed with a repeating floral or sunburst openwork motif joined by fine connecting threads. This central assembly is secured within a sterling silver frame. The reverse of the piece is fitted with a pin and a rollover safety clasp mechanism. The metal frame exhibits a heavy, dark patina and oxidation across all visible surfaces. There are no maker marks, hallmarks, or manufacturer signatures visible on the frame or the pin assembly. Length: 1 3/4 inches Width: 3/4 inch. The brooch is in good vintage condition. The sterling silver frame exhibits heavy dark tarnish and oxidation on the front, back, and sides (photos 2, 4, 5, and 6). The glass panes show minor surface abrasions and fine scratches (photo 1). The encapsulated lace is well-preserved with no visible tearing or discoloration. The rollover safety clasp is intact and functional.
