Victorian Costume Gold Toned Pierced Floral Sash Brooch - A large Victorian costume brooch crafted in a gold-toned base metal. The design features a high-relief central cluster of four-petaled blossoms and deeply veined leaves. This floral motif is set within an oval, double-lobed frame with a textured finish and a decorative open-work scrollwork border. The reverse of the brooch reveals a pierced lattice structure supporting the relief elements. The piece is equipped with a horizontal pin mechanism consisting of a tube hinge and a simple C-clasp. A thorough inspection of the reverse and all edges reveals no readable maker marks, hallmarks, or signatures. Across the widest point, the brooch measures approximately 2.75 inches in width and 1.8 inches in height. The brooch is in good vintage condition. There is visible wear to the gold-toned finish on the high points of the floral design and leaves, exposing a darker base metal beneath (photo 1). The outer textured frame shows similar surface wear along the edges (photo 2). The reverse exhibits significant surface oxidation and dark tarnish across the lattice work and frame (photo 3). The pin stem remains functional but shows a slight curve (photo 4).
