1922 United States Peace Silver Dollar - A 1922 United States Peace silver dollar composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. The obverse depicts the left-facing profile of Liberty wearing a radiated crown, with the impressed inscriptions LIBERTY along the top edge, IN GOD WE TRVST across the center, and the date 1922 at the bottom. An impressed monogram AF is visible at the base of Liberty’s neck. The reverse features a bald eagle perched on a rock inscribed PEACE against a sunburst background, with the impressed text UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination ONE DOLLAR. The coin lacks a mint mark, identifying it as a Philadelphia Mint strike. It is presented in a stapled white cardboard and plastic coin flip. The flip bears handwritten notations in blue ink reading 1922 and MS-63 + on the front, and KLW and 0512951C on the reverse. A handwritten price of $48.00 in black ink is also present on the front of the flip. The coin displays strong original mint luster with minor surface scuffs and contact marks visible on Liberty's cheek and neck (photo 1). The reverse exhibits light peripheral golden toning and several small spots of dark oxidation (photo 2). The cardboard flip shows typical staple indentations and minor corner wear consistent with handling.
