A Pair of Malta Silver Commemorative Coins, £M2 and £M4 - A pair of silver coins from the Republic of Malta, housed in a rectangular black plastic presentation case with silver-colored printed text and graphics. The top coin is a 2-Lira denomination. The obverse features a left-facing portrait with impressed characters reading ALFONSO M. GALEA 1861-1941 and the denomination LM2. The bottom coin is a 4-Lira denomination featuring an obverse depiction of St. Agatha's Tower at Qammieh, dated 1975, with the denomination LM 4 impressed at the base. The reverse of both coins displays a central emblem of a traditional boat and sun under the impressed characters REPUBBLIKA TA' MALTA. The case is titled MALTA SILVER COINAGE and includes biographical and historical text in English. Across the widest point of the case: 6 3/4 inches. The clear plastic of the presentation case shows heavy surface scratching and scuffing throughout (photos 1, 8, 10). Both coins exhibit significant and uneven surface toning, appearing as dark brownish and blueish discoloration on the obverse and reverse faces (photos 3, 5, 6, 7). The coins appear to be in uncirculated condition with no visible signs of wear or rim damage.
