A Pair of 1986-S US Liberty Centennial Commemorative Proof Coins in Original Case - This set comprises two United States commemorative coins struck at the San Francisco Mint for the 1886-1986 Liberty Centennial. The collection includes one 1986-S Liberty Silver Dollar and one 1986-S Liberty Half Dollar, both in proof condition. The silver dollar is struck in .900 fine silver, weighing 26.73 grams with a 1.500-inch diameter. Its obverse is inscribed LIBERTY, ELLIS ISLAND GATEWAY TO AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the S mint mark above the date 1986. The reverse is inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and includes a quote from Emma Lazarus. The half dollar is a copper-nickel clad coin weighing 11.34 grams with a 1.205-inch diameter. Its obverse is inscribed LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the S mint mark above the date 1986. The reverse is inscribed UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and HALF DOLLAR. Both coins feature mirrored fields and frosted devices. The coins are housed in individual clear plastic capsules within a blue velvet-lined presentation case. The interior lid is printed with the Great Seal of the United States in blue and the text UNITED STATES LIBERTY COINS 1886-1986. The front exterior edge of the case is printed in white with UNITED STATES MINT. The set includes two printed specification cards from the United States Mint detailing the coin dimensions and metal composition. The presentation case measures 6.25 inches across the width. Both coins are in proof condition as issued. The silver dollar exhibits light reddish-gold peripheral toning along the upper obverse rim (photo 4). No visible hairlines, spots, or contact marks are observed on the coin surfaces through the capsules. The blue velvet case shows no visible wear, staining, or structural damage (photo 1). The specification cards are clean and free of creases or discoloration (photo 2).
