Dale L. Jackson Charcoal Drawing, The King is Still on His Throne - This large-format charcoal drawing on paper is titled The King is Still on His Throne and is the work of artist Dale L. Jackson. The piece depicts a skeletal figure in a seated posture, resting upon a series of draped fabrics that form a makeshift throne. The artist utilizes bold, expressive charcoal strokes to create deep shadows and stark highlights across the skeletal anatomy and the surrounding textiles. The work is mounted behind a neutral white mat and housed in a slim, silver-tone metal frame protected by glass. Attached to the verso is an original identification label from the 1988 Iowa State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition (photo 2). This label provides the artist's name and Corning, Iowa address, the charcoal medium, and the title of the work. Framed dimensions measure approximately 40.75 inches in height by 29.25 inches in width. The paper shows visible overall toning across the surface (photo 1). The silver-tone frame has light surface scuffing and minor wear consistent with age (photo 7). The backboard exhibits several areas of old adhesive tape, residue from removed tape, and minor surface skinning (photo 4).
