1892 Patent Nickel-Plated Iron Claw Handcuff - A nickel-plated metal mechanical iron claw handcuff featuring a hinged, spring-loaded design. The device consists of two large curved clamping arms and a handle mechanism at the base, including one arm with a notched, ratcheting surface. An impressed stamp on the interior of one arm reads PATD MARCH. 11. 1892. The item is constructed from cast metal with a nickel finish and a central pivot hinge. Approximately 3 inches in length and 2.5 inches in width when closed (photo 5). The item exhibits moderate surface wear and light pitting across the nickel plating (photo 1, 3). Minor oxidation and surface scratches are present, primarily on the interior surfaces (photo 4). The mechanical hinge and spring components appear to be in functional working order.
