Art Nouveau Style Nickel Plated Cast Bronze Table Lamp Base - This table lamp base is constructed of nickel plated cast bronze and features an Art Nouveau aesthetic. The form begins with a wide, flared pedestal foot composed of six scrolled toes that transitions into a tapered, fluted neck. The central section consists of a bulbous register decorated in high relief with a repeating pattern of lily or lotus flowers set against an undulating, wave-like background. The piece is surmounted by a domed cap with radiating petal motifs and a central circular aperture intended for a lamp pipe. A circular hole is present on one side of the lower base to accommodate an electrical cord. The interior of the casting is hollow and shows the color of the bronze base metal. No maker marks, signatures, hallmarks, or labels are visible on the body, interior, or underside of the base. Width: 4 inches across the bulbous floral section. Estimated Height: 10 to 12 inches. A significant, jagged vertical fracture and crack is present in the casting through the bulbous floral section (Photos 6, 7). There is a small impact chip and associated material loss on one of the lower flutes of the pedestal base (Photo 3). The nickel plated finish shows extensive wear, thinning, and loss across the entire surface, revealing the bronze base metal beneath (Photos 1, 2, 5). The item shows surface oxidation, accumulated dirt, and a heavy patina consistent with age and use.
