Syrian Pierced Brass Calligraphic Table Lamp with Glass Bead Fringe - A Syrian hand-pierced brass table lamp featuring a domed shade and a flared pedestal base. The piece is extensively decorated with hand-chased ornamentation, including scrolling foliate motifs, geometric openwork, and broad bands of stylized Arabic calligraphy encircling both the shade and the base. The shade is topped with a brass finial in the form of a crescent moon and star, and features a scalloped lower edge with a suspended fringe of amber-colored glass beads. The metal displays a darkened, aged patina. The lamp is fitted with an older two-prong electric cord and a brass socket. An impressed mark on the lower edge of the base reads MADE IN SYRIA. Height: 27.5 inches. The brass exhibits a darkened aged patina with areas of green verdigris oxidation, notably on the base and shade (photo 1). The amber glass bead fringe is damaged, with multiple missing, tangled, or loose strands (photo 1). A small area of adhesive residue is present on the shade exterior (photo 2). Minor surface scratches and handling wear are visible throughout the metalwork (photo 3, 4). The electrical components appear aged and require professional evaluation or rewiring for safety (photo 5).
