Cast Metal Oinochoe Vessel with Winged Quadruped Relief in Shadow Box Frame - A cast metal vessel of oinochoe form presented within a square wooden shadow box frame. The vessel is constructed from a heavy metal alloy and features a bulbous body supported by a flared circular foot. A thick looped handle is attached to the rim opposite an offset spout which is fitted with a domed ribbed cap. One side of the body is decorated with a relief-molded motif of a winged quadruped shown in profile. The surface of the vessel exhibits a heavily oxidized and patinated finish displaying a dark brown base with areas of white and light green encrustation intended to simulate an archaeological appearance. The vessel is mounted on a light-colored fabric backing within a deep frame finished in dark wood. No maker marks signatures or inscriptions are visible on the object or its mounting. Frame width: 18.5 inches Frame height: 18.5 inches Vessel height: 6 inches. The vessel shows a heavily distressed and oxidized finish consistent with its design as seen in photo 3. The shadow box frame has visible wear including scuffs and chips to the dark wood finish at the corners and along the edges as shown in photos 6 and 8. The mounting and glass appear secure.
