Carved Stained Wood Wall Plaque with Rooster Weather Vane Motif and Inscription - This rectangular wall plaque is constructed from a single board of stained wood and features decorative scalloped ends. Centered at each end is a circular mounting hole. The front face of the plaque is decorated with incised script and a central figure. On the left side, it reads East. West. in a cursive hand. The center contains an incised illustration of a rooster perched atop a circular weather vane motif with perpendicular arms showing the directional letters W and E. The right side features the concluding phrase Hame's Best. in a matching script. The piece has a dark brown stain finish on both sides. The plaque measures approximately 31 inches in length and 5.5 inches in width. The plaque exhibits an aged appearance consistent with use. The front surface shows scattered surface scratches and minor abrasions throughout (photo 1). Small losses to the wood are visible at the right-side edge near the mounting hole (photo 5). The reverse of the board shows several dark, irregular stains, likely from water exposure (photo 7). The edges of the two mounting holes show minor splintering (photo 4, photo 5).
