A Hand-Blown Multicolored Glass Sock Darner - This hand-blown art glass whimsy is a sock darner featuring an opaque white spherical head decorated with an applied multicolored spatter pattern in shades of green, orange, yellow, blue, and pink. The tapered handle is constructed of clear glass containing internal twisted ribbons of blue, pink, orange, and white glass. The end of the handle is ground flat, revealing the hollow interior of the piece. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the object. Length: 5.6 inches Diameter of sphere: 2 inches. The piece is in good overall condition with no structural cracks or major losses. Minor surface abrasions and fine scratches consistent with age and utility are visible across the head and handle (photo 1). A small, dark particulate inclusion is trapped within the glass wall of the spherical head (photo 2). The ground rim at the base of the handle shows minor roughness and small chips around the inner and outer edges (photo 3).
