Large Steuben Calcite Glass Four-Light Chandelier from the Langdon Mansion - This large four-light bowl chandelier features a Steuben Calcite glass shade, originally from the Langdon Mansion in Elmira, New York. The translucent white glass shade is molded in a deep bowl form with a satin finish and subtle iridescence. The exterior is decorated in high relief with a classical acanthus leaf pattern radiating from a central floral rosette on the base. The upper rim is encircled by a geometric border consisting of alternating vertical rectangular panels and circular rosettes. The fixture is supported by three cast metal clips attached to chains that connect to a fluted metal canopy with a central decorative finial. Inside the bowl, four Edison-base sockets are arranged around the center. The metal sockets are impressed with the word PRESS in a sans-serif font; no other manufacturer marks are visible on the shade or hardware. The fixture retains its aged electrical components and period-style wiring. Across the widest point of the rim, the shade measures 22.5 inches in diameter. The shade measures approximately 6 inches in depth. The glass shade remains structurally intact with no visible large chips or cracks. There is significant rust-colored surface staining and oxidation residue along the upper rim (photo 2 and 10) and scattered across the exterior and interior surfaces (photo 13). The metal hardware, including the clips, chains, and canopy, exhibits a darkened, uneven patina with areas of surface oxidation and wear (photo 6 and 9). The wiring is aged and brittle, and one light bulb is currently missing from its socket (photo 4). Professional rewiring and cleaning are recommended prior to installation.
