Hand-Knotted Tribal Rug with Geometric Medallion Design - This hand-knotted tribal rug features a dark red field decorated with four primary geometric medallions arranged in two vertical pairs. Each medallion is complex and angular with stepped edges, containing internal nested geometric shapes and cross-like motifs in navy blue, cream, and ochre yellow. Secondary motifs between the main medallions include smaller diamond and cruciform shapes. The piece is framed by multiple borders; the widest main border contains a repeating series of stylized X motifs. The guard borders feature simpler, repeating geometric patterns and a sawtooth edge. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a wool foundation, characteristic of nomadic or village tribal weaving. A small white rectangular adhesive tag is located on the upper edge of the rug, but any text it contains is not legible. No other marks, labels, or signatures are visible.
