Hand Knotted Afghan Ersari Turkoman Wool Rug - A hand-knotted wool pile rug featuring a classic Ersari Turkoman design. The rug is composed on a lustrous copper-toned terracotta field featuring two columns of four primary octagonal guls, commonly referred to as elephant foot motifs. These guls contain intricate interior cruciform patterns in navy blue, cream, and tan. Small secondary diamond-shaped cruciform motifs in navy blue are placed between the primary guls. The central field is enclosed by multiple narrow geometric guard stripes and a wider main border displaying a repeating star-in-square pattern. The pile is wool knotted onto a cotton foundation. Length: 86 inches Width: 63.5 inches. The rug is in good overall condition. The wool pile maintains a good height and luster with light surface wear consistent with age and use. The cotton fringe shows unevenness, minor fraying, and loss at both ends. Side selvages are secure and intact. No major stains, holes, or visible repairs are noted.
