Bidspirit auction | Hand-Knotted Pakistani Bokhara Wool Area
Hand-Knotted Pakistani Bokhara Wool Area Rug - A hand-knotted wool area rug featuring a traditional Bokhara design. The field is decorated with a repeating pattern of 18 primary octagonal guls arranged in three columns of six. These medallions are detailed with geometric motifs in shades of dark red, terracotta, and navy blue. The central field is surrounded by multiple geometric borders consisting of latch-hook, diamond, and chevron patterns. The rug is constructed with a wool pile on a likely wool foundation, showing a characteristic hand-knotted weave on the reverse. Length: 80 inches (excluding fringe). Poor condition. The rug shows significant signs of age and heavy use, including multiple large areas of extensive pile loss where the wool is worn down to the foundation. The fringe at both ends is heavily worn, uneven, and short. There is overall surface wear and fraying to the side selvages.
