LG African Amber and Trade Bead Necklace and a Pair of Beads - This lot features an African trade bead collar necklace and two matching loose beads. The necklace is composed of large amber beads in disc and rounded lenticular shapes, alternating with cylindrical millefiori glass beads. The glass beads exhibit various mosaic patterns including floral designs and eye motifs in shades of blue, yellow, green, red, and white. Small silver-toned base metal spacer beads are placed between the primary components. The necklace is finished with a toggle-style clasp consisting of a large translucent red bead and a knotted loop of red textile cord. Included are two large loose amber beads that match those found on the necklace. The amber beads feature various tones ranging from butterscotch yellow to honey orange and a dark mottled reddish-brown. Loose bead diameter: Approximately 1.75 inches Combined weight of two loose beads: 62.30 grams. The items are in fair to good vintage condition. There are visible surface scratches and small chips to the amber beads, particularly around the stringing holes. One dark reddish-brown bead shows significant surface crazing and fine cracking. The glass beads exhibit minor age-related pitting and wear. The red cord stringing material is heavily frayed near the clasp and requires restringing for secure use.
