An Assortment of Cast Metal Figurines Including Johann Baptist Stiglmaier Stag and A Christmas Roast Pig Bank - An assortment of cast metal decorative and novelty figurines. Leading the collection is a cast metal recumbent stag figurine by Johann Baptist Stiglmaier (German, 1791-1844). The stag is modeled with a prominent rack of antlers and rests upon an ornate rectangular plinth decorated with foliate swags and a central blank cartouche. The edge of the base is incised with the inscription J. B. 1828 STIGLMAYER. Also included is a cast iron still bank in the form of a pig, embossed on the side with the text A CHRISTMAS ROAST. The bank is a two-part casting secured with a central screw. The collection further includes a cast metal novelty depicting two figures seated atop a bale embossed with the word COTTON; a cast metal seated figure with an exaggerated open mouth likely intended as a match holder or cigarette snuffer; and a cast metal robed figure holding a large perforated spherical orb decorated with incised leaf patterns and a foliate finial, likely serving as an incense or potpourri holder. The stag and incense burner are both fitted with green felt on the underside of their bases. The stag figurine displays light surface wear to the patina on high points; the antlers appear intact. The Christmas Roast pig bank shows significant surface oxidation and rust throughout, with scattered white paint or plaster marks on the snout and underside. The cotton bale novelty has a heavy accumulation of dust and environmental grime in the recessed areas. The open-mouth figure exhibits substantial finish loss, revealing the underlying light-colored metal. The incense burner figure shows minor surface wear and visible verdigris oxidation in the crevices of the robes and orb.
