A Large Pair of Royal Dux Bohemia Porcelain Incroyable and Merveilleuse Figures - A pair of large polychrome glazed porcelain figurines manufactured by Royal Dux Bohemia. The figures are modeled in the 18th-century French Directoire style as an Incroyable and a Merveilleuse. The male figure, an Incroyable, is depicted wearing a green bicorne hat with a large pink bow, a layered brown coat over a gold-tone floral-patterned waistcoat, and knee-high boots with striped gaiters; he holds a gnarled walking stick. The female figure, a Merveilleuse, wears a high-brimmed bonnet decorated with feathers and bows, a gown with an open bodice and exaggerated collar, long blue-tinted gloves, and carries a parasol and a decorated reticule. Both figures are mounted on square, ornate rococo-style bases with relief-molded scrolls and floral motifs. The undersides of the bases are marked with incised letters BU over the model number 1701. Height: 31 inches. A visible hairline crack is located on the underside of the female figure's base, extending from the outer rim toward the center. Minor chips and shelf wear are present along the bottom edges of both rococo bases. Delicate extremities, including the fingers and held accessories, appear to be intact. There is a general accumulation of surface dust and cobwebs in the crevices of the porcelain modeling.
