Victorian 14k Gold and Goldstone Cabochon Brooch - This Victorian-era brooch is crafted in 14k yellow gold and features a large, oval-cut goldstone cabochon. The stone is a form of aventurine glass, notable for its deep reddish-brown color and shimmering effect created by suspended copper crystals. The cabochon is secured in a bezel setting, which is decorated with hand-chased foliate and scroll patterns. The reverse of the brooch is fitted with an elongated pin stem that extends slightly beyond the frame, secured by a period-appropriate C-clasp mechanism. Length: 1.6 inches (41 mm) Width: 1.2 inches (30 mm). The brooch is in good antique condition. The goldstone cabochon is well-preserved with no significant chips, cracks, or surface scratches. The 14k gold mounting shows minor surface wear and light tarnish consistent with age and use. The pin mechanism is fully functional, though the pin stem has a slight curve.
