Victorian Pittsburgh Lamp Brass and Glass Co Native American Indian Gone With The Wind Oil Lamp - A Victorian era Gone With The Wind style oil lamp fount featuring an opaque glass reservoir with a hand painted Native American Indian scene. The continuous landscape decoration depicts a Native American Indian figure in a canoe on a body of water with a background of mountains and hazy skies, utilizing a palette of ochre, burnt orange, sienna, cream, red, and black. The glass reservoir is mounted in a cast metal fount ring and set upon an ornate openwork cast metal base featuring scrolled foliate and shell motifs. The lamp is fitted with a center draft burner assembly. The burner thumbwheel is embossed with the letters SUCCESS, identifying the component as a Success model burner produced by the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass and Glass Co. (PLB&G). The interior cross brace of the metal base is cast with the model number 1193. The lamp is missing its original glass chimney and globe shade. Height: 13 inches Diameter: 6.5 inches. The lamp is in good antique condition. The hand painted glass reservoir shows minor surface wear and a small circular flake to the painted finish on the upper shoulder. The metal components exhibit a dark aged patina with areas of verdigris oxidation and accumulated surface dust, particularly on the base. The burner assembly appears intact with a dry wick; functionality is untested.
