Pittsburgh Lamp Brass and Glass Company Empire Pattern Parlor Lamp - Large parlor lamp manufactured by the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass and Glass Company, specifically the Empire pattern model S-5092. The lamp features a matching satin-finish glass shade and urn-shaped body. The glass is decorated with transfer-printed and hand-painted stylized acanthus leaves and scrolls in sage green and amber tones, accented by a geometric trellis pattern with lavender and pink highlights. The domed shade has a flared upper neck and is fitted with a green glass beaded fringe. The glass body is supported by an ornate, openwork cast metal base with a dark patinated finish. The central metal burner assembly includes a glass chimney and a control knob embossed with the word SUCCESS. Originally a kerosene-fueled lamp, this piece has been electrified for modern use. Height: 26 inches. The lamp has been converted from kerosene to electric power. Metal components exhibit surface oxidation and minor wear to the finish consistent with age. The glass shade and base appear free of cracks or large chips. The beaded fringe is largely intact, though minor unevenness in strand length is present. There is visible dust accumulation and light grime in the crevices of the burner assembly and cast metal base.
